Youth Equestrian Show

General Show Rules:

  1. This show is for children 18 years of age and under as of January 1, 2016.
  2. Open to all horses and ponies.
  3. English & Western disciplines welcomed.
  4. Hold Harmless Release Agreement – must be presented on day of competition.
  5. ALL riders must wear approved riding helmets and safe, correct footwear.  Helmets worn by Western entrants will not be penalized, but encouraged.
  6. English and Western disciplines are welcome but no crossing of attire or equipment.  Example: If you are showing in Western Tack the rider must be turned out in Western Attire.  The same goes for English. Jackets will be excused in all games classes.
  7. Entry Fee – $2.00, Post Entry – $5.00 per class, all entries are to be mailed by May 30, 2015.

High Point Lead Line – Classes 1, 2, 3 & 4
High Point Beginner – Classes 5, 6, 7, 8, & 9
High Point Pony 7 – 18 years – Classes 10 , 12, & 14
High Point Horse 7 – 18 years – Classes 11, 13, & 15

LEAD LINE CLASS RULES:

  1. Open to riders 6 years and under.
  2. To be judged 25% on neatness and turnout of rider and mount, 75% will be scored on rider’s performance.
  3. Riders must be led by a parent or responsible handler 16 years of age or older.
  4. Riders in the Lead Line Division may not cross enter into any other classes at this competition on this day. 

LEAD LINE CLASSES
01. Lead Line Walk – to walk only.
02. Lead Line Walk/Trot – to be performed at the walk & trot.
03. Lead Line Egg & Spoon – this is an elimination class, the last rider to drop the egg wins!
04. Lead Line Donut Race – first rider to eat the donut off the string wins!

BEGINNER CLASS RULES:

  1. Open to riders 7 – 18 years of age.
  2. Riders in this class must not have won 1st place at any other competition, other than Lead Line.
  3. In canter/lope work ponies and horses will be divided for Class 07.
  4. Riders in the Beginner Division may not cross enter into any other classes at this competition on this day.  Have proof of age if over 14 years.

BEGINNER CLASSES
05. Beginner Showmanship – to be judged on how horse/pony and handler execute a pattern on the ground.
06. Beginner Walk/Trot
07. Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter/Lope
08. Beginner Egg & Spoon – this is an elimination class, the last rider to drop the egg wins!
09. Beginner Donut Race – first rider to eat the donut off the string wins!

SHOWMANSHIP/PLEASURE/EQUITATION CLASS RULES:

  1. Open to riders 7 – 18 years of age, unless otherwise noted.
  2. Height Rule: Riders with ponies in the 14.0 to 14.2 hands height range have the option of competing in the pony classes OR the horse classes.  Once the decision has been made, the rider and mount must remain in the designation for the entire competition.

SHOWMANSHIP/PLEASURE/EQUITATION CLASSES
10. Pony Showmanship –
to be judged on how pony and handler execute a pattern on the ground.
11. Horse Showmanship – to be judged on how horse and handler execute a pattern on the ground.
12. Pleasure Pony
13. Pleasure Horse
14. Equitation Pony
15. Equitation Horse

GAME CLASS RULES:

  1. Open to riders 7 – 18 years of age.
  2. Riders in the 7 – 18 years of age Division may not cross enter into any other classes at this competition on this day.  Have proof of age if over 14 years.

GAME CLASSES
17. Donut Race –
first rider to eat the donut off the string wins!
18. Potato Sack Race – ride down to the far end of the ring, dismount your horse/pony, get into the sack and the first person to jump back wins!
19. Catalog Race – ride down to the far end of the ring, dismount your horse/pony, get the catalog and pull out the page that is called out by the judge, first one across the finish line with the correct page wins!
20. Egg & Spoon - this is an elimination class, the last rider to drop the egg wins!
